"In your personal opinion, what do you understand it takes for a person to go to heaven?" Take a moment to answer that question...
Now, allow us to share how the Bible answers this question. It's a matter of F.A.I.T.H. and each letter stands for something important you must understand.
F is for FORGIVENESS. We cannot have eternal life and heaven without God's forgiveness. "In Him [meaning Jesus] we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins," -Ephesians 1:7a, NIV.
A is for AVAILABLE. Forgiveness is available to All. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" -John 3:16, NIV. But not Automatic. "Not everone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven" -Matthew 7:21a, NIV.
I is for IMPOSSIBLE. It is impossible for God to allow sin into heaven. God is LOVE -1 John 4:8, NIV. JUST "Because judgment without mercy" -James 2:13a, NIV. Man is SINFUL "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" -Romans 3:23, NIV. Question: But how can a sinful person enter heaven, where God allows no sin?
T is for TURN. Question: If you were driving down the road and someone asked you to turn, what would he or she be asking you to do? Turn here is meant to repent. Turn from sin and self. "But unless you repent, you too will all perish" -Luke 13:3b, NIV. Turn to Christ alone. "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures" -1 Corinthians 15:3b-4, NIV. "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" -Romans 10:9, NIV.
H is for HEAVEN. Heaven is eternal life. NOW, "I have come that they may have life, and and have it to the full" -John 10:10b, NIV. FOREVER, "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me that you also may be where I am." -John 14:3, NIV. Question: How can a person have God's forgiveness, heaven and eternal life, and Jesus as personal Savior and Lord? F.A.I.T.H. (Forsaking All I Trust Him), and Romans 10:9.
INVITATION - Understanding what was just shared, we invite you to receive this forgiveness by trusting in Christ as your personal Savior and Lord. Just say this prayer: Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I believe that you died on the cross and shed your blood for my sins. Thank you for your sacrifice and I am now asking that you will come into my heart, forgive me of my sins and help me start as a new Christian to live for you. Amen.
